If you want to work on what you learned in class, please feel free to make use of the practice time. There will always be a teacher available if you have any questions or need some advice. Plus you will get to know better your fellow dancers! Please be aware that we as teachers will assess your progress as lindy hoppers and perhaps recommend that you stay in your current level, depending on the general field of registrations.
Here you will find some descriptions, to help you figure out the course for which you should register. We will, however, review the registrations and possibly recommend that you move to a different level, based upon your perceived progress and in order to keep a balanced lead-follow ratio. If you have any questions at any point of the registration process, you are very welcome to ask the teachers for advice. More information about this can be seen here.
Lindy A (absolute beginner) This is a course for Lindy Hop complete beginners and for those who did not attend enough of the Lindy A classes in September-November 2017 and need to continue to focus on their basics (indeed, even advanced dancers should also always work on their basics!). The aim of this course is to get you on the social dance floor as soon as possible, by learning the standard steps and figures and some basic Lindy Hop technique.
Lindy B (beginner-intermediate) This is a course for lindy hop beginner-intermediate dancers, i.e. for those who have been dancing in Lindy A or Lindy B during the current season of 2017. You come social dancing whenever you can. This course will expand your repertoire of figures and footwork variations and dig deeper into the details of Lindy Hop technique. You’ll learn some new technique and step deeper into the world of 1930s Charleston lindy hop.
Lindy C (intermediate) This is a course for Lindy Hop intermediate dancers, i.e. for those who have been dancing in Lindy B for several blocks and are ready to move to a more challenging level, and for dancers who previously danced in Lindy C. You are comfortable with your social dancing and would like to continue working on your technique and figures. The aim is to improve your technique to the point where you can tackle the more difficult figures and variations and use them on the social dance floor. You come social dancing whenever you can and perhaps have been travelling to dance in Lindy Hop scenes outside Nijmegen. If you are coming from Lindy B, please be aware that your admission is dependent on your teachers’ assessment and the field of registrations, in order to keep a good balance of dancers’ progress and leader/follower ratio.
Taking two classes:
You can now take a second lesson on the same evening for free. Check out what the kids are doing in Lindy A or B! And followers, would you like to improve your leading skills? It depends on the final schedule, but you will probably be able to join our Lindy A or B classes in addition to your regular Lindy C classes. We will give priority to new students but do our best to fit you in.
If you have any questions about the classes and courses always feel free to ask your teachers!
