After a successful first edition of Gelre Blues in Wageningen, we proudly present to you the second edition of Gelre Blues in Nijmegen! We are very very excited to welcome the amazing Penny and Lucas, all the way from Taiwan, for a bluesy afternoon on Sunday April 20th!

Penny and Lucas will be teaching two workshops:

Workshop 1: Blues Aesthetics
In this workshop we will dive into the characteristic aesthetics of blues dancing, such as posture, pulse, groundness, coolness, and lag. You will learn how to integrate them into your dancing, making dance not only a display of movements, but also an emotional expression and a rhythmic flow. A perfect introduction to blues dancing for those who never danced blues before, and a great way to deepen your fundamentals if you already have some blues dancing experience.

Workshop 2: Latin Blues
Explore the fusion of Latin music and Blues, and immerse yourself in its unique rhythms and grooves! This workshop delves into the history and cultural blending of Latin Blues, guiding you through its distinctive musical structures and dance forms. You will learn how Latin rhythms intertwine with Blues, experience its rich rhythmic essence, enhance your fluency on the dance floor, and deepen your appreciation for this vibrant musical style.

Join us for a bluesy picknick after the workshops!!

Level: both workshops are all level workshops. Penny and Lucas will make sure the workshops will be enjoyable and challenging for beginner ánd intermediate dancers. If you never danced blues before, we kindly ask you to join the Blues Aesthetics workshop first. If you want to join the Latin Blues workshop as well, you sign up for both workshops (Blues Aesthetics + Latin Blues). Intermediate dancers can freely choose one workshop, or both of course! We gladly invite you all to join us on this blues journey!

Location: Dance studio Salsa Tipica, De Kolk 16, Nijmegen. Salsa Tipica is located in De Vasim, a former factory building turned into a cultural hub. The entrance of the dance studio is located on the west side of De Vasim, next to the parking lot.
