Frequently asked questions

Thanks to Swing in Utrecht for their help in drafting this advice.

Please also read our dance etiquette guide for pointers on how we keep our dances and classes a pleasant and safe experience for everyone!

Weekly Classes

  • After registration you will be put on a waiting list. When we have a spot for you, you will receive an e-mail with payment details and a term within which you need to pay (usually 5 days). Your spot in the class is confirmed when we have received your payment. If you do not pay on time, your spot may be given to the next person on the waiting list.
  • Cancellation policy:
    • Cancellation before two weeks of the start of the term: full restitution of the fee minus €5 for administration costs;
    • Cancellation in the last two weeks before the first class: 50% restitution of the fee;
    • Cancellation after start of classes: no restitution;
    • Contact us if you cannot take the classes due to special circumstances, so we can see if there is a solution. Everybody, we hope to see you happy and healthy in class!
  • If you participate in a class after we have sent you payment instructions, you confirm with your participation that you want to take the full course. This means that you have to pay the full course fee and the cancellation policy applies.
  • If you have to cancel your registration, you are allowed to find someone in your place, provided you let the organisation know. This person must dance the same role (leader/follow) and in the same level as you. You can arrange payment yourself with this person.
  • Students get a 10 euro discount (which is applied once per block). You have to show us a valid student ID.
  • We reserve the right to place you in a different class level if we find that you registered for a non-fitting level. If you are in doubt to what level you should sign up, you can always ask your teachers before you subscribe;
  • Taking two classes: During the registration process, you can indicate that you would like to take a second class. We welcome our students to do two classes to further improve their technique or learn to dance in a second role. However, the following rules apply: (i) New students get priority. We will inform you if you can take your second class at the beginning of the new block. (ii) If you sign up for a second class and we confirm your spot, you are expected to try your best to make it to both classes, so that we can keep a good ratio of leaders and followers in class. (iii) If the leader/follower ratio in your extra class is much out of balance, we reserve the right to ask you to not participate in a lesson in exceptional cases.
  • Lindy What is not responsible for any physical injuries, personal damage or loss during the classes. We will try our best to be responsible for fun and enjoyment instead!
  • You and your dance partner (if applicable) will be added to our mailing list.

Workshops

  • After registration you will be put on a waiting list. As soon as we have a spot for you, you will receive an e-mail with payment details and a term within which you need to pay. Your spot in the class is only confirmed when we have received your payment.
  • We don’t accept cancellations for workshops, although you are allowed to sell your pass to someone in your place if you let the organisation know before 7 days of the event. Your replacement should dance in the same role (leader/follow) and in the same level as you. You should arrange payment with this person yourself. This must happen at least seven days before the workshop. This is because we make financial calculations based on the pre-registrations.
  • We reserve the right to place you in a different class level if we find that you registered for a non-fitting level. If you are in doubt to what level you should sign up, you can always ask your teachers before you subscribe.

  • Student rates are for students currently enrolled at university, college, ROC, high school, etc. You have to show us a valid student ID on request. If you cannot show an ID, you have to pay the (difference to the) full rate plus 5 euro administration costs. Note: These rates are meant to make classes and events a bit more affordable for people who do not yet have a full income. Please use your common sense to determine whether this applies to you. If you are not a student anymore but a bit tight financially, volunteering can be another great way to reduce costs. We also participate in the ‘Meedoen regeling’ of the gemeente. Email us if you want to know more.

Parties

  • Since we as a voluntary organization invest a lot of time, energy (and money) in our events, and these are an important way for us to get new people enthusiastic about what we do, we kindly request that if you have the desire to advertise or flyer on our events to always consult with us first by contacting us beforehand by e-mail lindynijmegen@gmail.com
  • We regularly organize social dances. These have an entrance fee to help us pay for the venue and band. Please do not try to enter the party without paying, it’s not fair to the others.
  • Some volunteers who help us out (e.g. coming early to help the band set up etc.), do not have to pay an entrance fee. So if the fee is a problem for you, email us or talk to one of the teachers to see if we can find a different solution for you.
