Dearest Lindy Babies, welcome! Whether you have already enrolled for your first block of classes or you’re just exploring the idea of learning to dance Lindy Hop and swing dance, this page is aimed at you. Here is where you can find all of the information that you might need. If you need more, please check out our Frequently Asked Questions and our Terms and Conditions.
What do you need to know? What are the prerequisites?
Nothing, other than an enthusiasm to learn. Two left feet? No problem! If you are motivated to learn then we will get you on the social dance floor as soon as possible. Lindy Hop is a social dance, meaning that in class and in social dancing we don’t have fixed dance partners; we rotate partners frequently so that you can learn to dance with all sorts of people without a problem.
What do you need to bring to class?
Here are some suggestions:
- Wear clean, casual and loose fitting clothing (there is no need to wear anything special, unless you want to of course!)
- Possibly a change of shirt. Some of us sweat more than others, so it might be nice to change shirt after class for your own comfort.
- Definitely a water bottle! Especially when the weather gets warmer.
- A pair of shoes that you can dance in. No need to spend money on fancy shoes. We just require that you wear shoes that are indoor (i.e. they are never worn outside) and that they don’t make any marks when dragged. We need to protect the lovely dance floor! If you don’t have such shoes, you can instead just dance in your socks.
